Halloween Costume Gone Wrong?

I love it. I love everything about it. And the best part about Halloween is that whether you’re a kid, an adult or even a dog, you get one day to dress up as anybody you want to be!

BreadHeadHave you ever tried to get clever and put a Halloween costume together… and nobody got it?

Take this guy for example. ———->

Your guess is as good as mine on what he was trying to convey. Bread Head? Gluten Lover? A bad replica of a much-loved Star Wars character? I’m sure it would be really funny if the punchline were obvious.

Design projects are actually much like this. Many projects have a theme or a story to tell beyond what is given in the body copy. And sometimes, I’m asked to incorporate several ideas into a piece, and that can be just as disastrous to the overall outcome, and the audience won’t get it. Talk about wasted money and wasted time.

In honor of Halloween, think of it as a witches cauldron. You want to put in only the ingredients which will give you the spell you want. If you start throwing in everything, you’ll end up turning your mom into a toad and your grandpa into a squirrel. Yowza!
